One on One With Pelli As He Talks About His Music


Meet one of Nigeria’s fast rising artiste Pelli  (formerly known as Chycopelli).
Real name Chike Ufondu has churned out a couple of hit singles this year alone. Sometime in May last year, he released his Freestyle version of TERRY G’s Troway which caught everyone’s attention.
He also released TURN HER ON which is the ladies’ favourite right as we speak. In July, he released DANCE (MUMU) which is getting massive airplay all around Nigeria.

How did ‘Pelli’ emerge – What inspired the name?
I actually started out with the name ‘chycopelli” felt it was kind of complicated to pronounce, so I cut it short to pelli no actual meaning, just a nick name given to me way back in school.
The music industry today. Does it need more improved artistes or it’s okay as it is?
It sure needs more improved artist, because our music is fast becoming an export.




Tell us about Pelli’s kind of music.
Pelli’s music is about him, music that hits you and u want to put to it on replay… cos of my versatility I do almost all kind of music.. my core is RnB and Pop.

Tell us about your childhood.
My childhood was an interesting one.. though I never rolled with my age mates.. Always had the idea that if I rolled with elder people, I will be way above my peers. In all I had a memorable child hood.

How do you relate with your female fans?
I actually make them feel more than fans, I make them feel like family.. cos they support my hustle

Your Musical Journey so far, any regrets?
Not at all, every step has made me want to even do more.

Will you say you’re living the Nigerian dream already?
No, not yet.. but that is where I am heading to.
