Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroun, Malawi Others Win Big At 2013 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA)


The 9th edition of the African Movie Academy Awards took place at The Cultural Glory Hall Cultural Centre,  Yenegoa, Bayelsa on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

The  event  was  hosted by Ama K. Abebrese and Ayo Makun (AY).

The event brought together  African Film Makers, Actors, Actresses, Movie Producers, Movie Directors all over Africa for the prestigious Awards.

Governor of Bayelsa State, Honorable Seriake Dickson and his wife were present at the event.
Special guests who were also present at the event are: British Actor, Dudley O’Shaughnessy and Mario Van Peebles and his son.

The Jury for AMAA 2013 gave a special award to Emem Isong,  Kanayo O. Kanayo and  Kenneth Okonkwo to honor them for the good work Nollywood  has achieved so far in  20 years.

Florence Masebe (ELELWANI from South Africa won Best Actress in a  Leading Role Category over Nollywood Actress Rita Dominic (THE MEETING).

  • Achievement In Soundtrack - The Last Fishing Boat (Malawi)
  • Achievement In Visual Effects - The Twin Sword (Nigeria)
  • Achievement In Sound - Nairobi Half Life (Kenya)
  • Achievement In Cinematography Uhlanga, The Mark (South Africa)
  • Achievement In Editing Hereos And Zeroes (Nigeria)
  • Achievement In Lightning - Moi Zaphira (Burkina Faso)

  • Best Nigerian Film - Confusion Na Wa (Nigeria)

  • Best Child Actor - The Ugandan (Uganda)
  • Best Promising Actor - Joseph Wairimu for “Nairobi Half Life” (Kenya)
  • Best Promising Actress - Belinda Effah for “Kokomma” (Nigeria)
  • Best Actor In A Supporting Role - Gabriel Afolayan for “Hoodrush” (Nigeria)
